Buzzing with river energy–
that’s what happens
when you tip your canoe.
River otters swim into your mind,
and you can’t sleep.
The bald eagle
swoops down into your heart
and pulls forth
a silver fish.
Smells of willow and river moss
haunt me,
and I see again
that huge blue heron
as he rises into flight,
his broad wings shimmering
as I float past him.
